Christmas Hamper & Angel Gift Program A Great Success!
Thank you to all the volunteers, donors, board and staff who made the 2011 Centre Wellington Food Bank, Christmas Hamper & Angel Gift Program a great success. Over 175 families received food hampers and 160 children under the age of 18 were given gift packages. Once again the Centre Wellington community came together to help those using the Food Bank. Well done Centre Wellington!

The Food Bank Office will be closed December 24 to January 2. We will open again on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. The Board, Staff and Volunteers wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday!

The CWFB  2011 Christmas Toy Drive is underway! on Tower Street South (Hwy 6)  is collecting new, unwrapped TOYS (or cash donations) from November 16th - December 13th for the Food Bank.  These toys will be given to Food Bank client families (newborn to age 18). This project is co-sponsored by Reliable Motors and the Fergus Lions Club.

The CWFB Christmas Angel Program is looking for donors to help make Christmas a little more special for those less fortunate. To participate please email the Food Bank  at cwfoodbank@wightman.ca or call us at (519) 787-1401 and a volunteer will provide you with more details. Thank you for your generosity.
Christmas Turkey Drive
CWFB needs your support for the 2011 Christmas Turkey Drive! The purchase of a ticket for $20.00 will provide a family with a turkey dinner for Christmas. Tickets are purchased at the Fergus branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia - For every ticket purchased the bank matches it dollar for dollar. A tax deductible receipt will be issued.
One Year On … Community Kitchen in Action!
Every year St. James Anglican Church in Fergus hosts ten community dinners which are held on the third Friday of the month. These dinners have been a feature in the community for over 12 years. The purchase of a ticket for $20.00 will provide a family with a turkey dinner for Christmas.

“Stuff A Cruiser” Food Drive, October 7,8 and 9

The OPP “Stuff a Cruiser” is the first major food drive of the  fall and winter season. This  drive and several others held during this period provide the food bank with most of the food and non food related items needed to help its clients until next years Easter food drive.  The Stuff a Cruiser drive will be held at Zehrs Fergus on October 7, 8  & 9th.  Come on out and stuff that cruiser with food and other products so that the food bank can meet the monthly grocery needs of over 350 Centre Wellington families.

Remember to make a donation and help us stuff the cruiser from floor to ceiling and front to back.  See you there!

Sensational Elora Empty Bowl and Empty Glasses Project

Starting September 30th  - the Sensational Elora Empty Bowl and Empty Glasses Project gets under way. For the 11 days of Sensational Elora (September 30 – October 10) you can help support those in need and enjoy a spectacular bowl of soup at various local restaurants. 100% of the sale of the hand made bowls and glasses go to local organizations helping to alleviate hunger.

Don’t miss the Sensational Soup-off Event on Thanksgiving Monday, October 10th, 1-4 pm at Aboyne Hall. Sample the soups and freshly baked breads, enjoy some music and vote for your favourite soup!  Buy your ticket and join in the fight against hunger and poverty.
