About Us

Posted By: Azend Consulting on November 10, 2009 in - Comments: 6 Comments »

In 2009, the Centre Wellington Food Bank provided groceries to more than 2400 people, 835 of which were children. From September to October there was a 25% increase in visits to the food bank. This can be attributed to the downturn in the economy resulting in the loss of jobs and lowered incomes. The community responded by increasing donations of food and funds to meet this time of challenge. For example the Thanksgiving Zehrs O.P.P. “Stuff a Cruiser Food Drive” brought in more than 11000 lbs of grocery items. That is 3 times more than was brought in during the event help in 2008. Thank you Centre Wellington for supporting our food bank and fighting hunger in our community.

Our Clients page will inform anyone of the process to get help while our Donors page will let you know what is on the “wishlist” and how to get it to us. We also want to recognize those who help us to “Lend a helping hand”!

Would you like to help out at the Food bank? Are you a high school student who needs community service hours? Check out our Volunteers page for info on how to get started.

The Food Bank has a wide variety of grocery items available for our clients thanks to the generosity of people, families, businesses, churches, schools and service clubs that host events and donate to the CWFB. If you are interested in supporting or hosting an event, check our events page.

If you need to speak to someone, our contact page will send you in the right direction.

Centre Wellington Welcome Wagon representatives distribute packages of civic information to newcomers to our community and to new mothers at Groves Hospital and in Centre Wellington on daily basis. We used to carry a brochure outlining how people could help the Community Pantry — but somewhere along the way, supplies were depleted and we didn’t receive any more of those.

We could help spread the word about your volunteer opportunities, where you are located, what your hours of operation are, etc. if you have material you’d like to give us.

We average about 20-25 visits a month in each of our programs and we like to receive about 100 brochures or flyers at a time so that we have a continual supply for making up our packages in advance.

We are promoting the Backyard Music on August 20th and would like to further help the Pantry in the future. Can we do something?
